Practical ecommerce advice for North East businesses

Ecommerce Consultant in the North East

I’m Mark Logan, an ecommerce consultant based in the North East of England. I help online retailers and ambitious product businesses improve their websites, attract more qualified visitors and turn more of that traffic into revenue.

I work with businesses in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Northumberland, Teesside and across the wider North East. I also work remotely with clients throughout the UK, so you get the benefit of a local point of contact without being limited by geography.

If your store is attracting visitors but not enough sales, relying too heavily on paid advertising, struggling to rank in Google or lacking a clear growth plan, I can help you identify what needs attention and what to prioritise first.

Identify & Fix Your Online Pain Points

Common Ecommerce Challenges I Can Solve

I’ve worked across all facets of ecommerce and I understand that each digital marketing channel should compliment one another where possible, to drive and create a cohesive strategy. It is often the case that these are left independent to one-another. Working with me, I will identify and propose ways of fixing:

  • Poor conversion rates, especially those with lots of incoming traffic
  • High bounce / exit rates across key pages
  • Poor search rankings and lack of SEO / GEO strategy
  • Over reliance on paid ads with low ROI
  • Not relying on ROAS as a success metric
  • Dwindling email marketing performance and low repeat purchase rates
  • Technical issues affecting conversionperformance
  • Unsure how to use AI safely to increase productivity

Initial Conversation

We discuss your business, what you are trying to achieve and where you currently feel blocked. This gives us a basis for deciding whether consultancy, implementation support or an ongoing arrangement is the right fit.

Audit & Analysis

I examine the relevant data and systems. Depending on your needs, this may include analytics, Search Console, SEO, paid activity, email, merchandising, conversion performance and your ecommerce platform.

Strategy & action plan

You can take the plan to your internal team or agency, or I can support the implementation directly. We then review performance and refine the approach as we learn what works.

Implementation & Optimisation

Support with executing the strategy, monitoring performance and refining over time.

Being based in the North East makes it easier to build a straightforward working relationship with local business owners and teams. Where an in-person meeting is useful and practical, we can discuss it. For most of the work, remote collaboration gives us the flexibility to share data, review your store and move projects forward efficiently.

The more important distinction is not simply location. It is relevant operating experience. I spent more than 13 years at Aphrodite Clothing, progressing to Head of Ecommerce and helping grow the business from under £1 million to more than £5 million in annual revenue before its acquisition by Frasers Group. I now apply that hands-on experience to independent retailers, startups and established online businesses.

That means the advice is grounded in running an ecommerce operation, not only in recommending isolated marketing activities. The focus is on the relationship between traffic, conversion, margin, customer experience and revenue.

Ecommerce SEO

I can help improve the visibility of your category, product and supporting content pages so that your site attracts more relevant search traffic. This may include technical SEO, keyword and content planning, on-page improvements, internal linking and identifying opportunities your competitors are missing.

Conversion Rate Optimisation

More traffic will not solve a website that is difficult to use or unclear about why customers should buy. I can use analytics and customer behaviour data to investigate weak points in the journey, from landing pages and navigation through to product pages, checkout and post-purchase opportunities.
