How To Add Social Media Links To Google Business Profile

Good news for business owners as Google have announced that they are giving you the ability to add social media links to your Google Business profile. By introducing this option, it now gives business owners the power to link their own Google Business profiles to their preferred social media profiles alongside their current offering on Google Search and Maps.

Why Is This A Good Thing?

Historically this hasn’t been that easy to connect your Google Business account with your social media profiles. You had to rely on implementing schema and waiting on Google recognising which social media profiles matched your business. This didn’t always work in my experience.

How To Implement Your Social Links

Head on over to the Google support site to get their official step by step instructions on how to complete the process. One thing to be aware is that this will be rolled out in a phased approach. The first site that I have personally tried to implement it on didn’t have the feature available to them.

According to Google, to do this on a business that has access to the feature, you need to follow the following steps:

• Go into your Google Business Profile
• Click Edit Profile -> Business Information -> Contact
• To edit, click on Social profiles -> Select the social media platform you want to update
• Add the web address for that social media account

To edit or remove an existing social media link, you follow the same process but click the ‘bin’ icon next to the social media profile that needs removing.

Adding social media links to your Google profile is a very useful tool for businesses small and large. It gives customers more visibility of who your brand is, can potentially grow those audiences and allows brands to grow.

If your social media presence is very poor and will not help add any authority to your business you may want to think twice about connecting them as it may actually devalue your offering, but that is your decision.
