Shopify Moves Blog Posts to the Content Menu – What You Need to Know
If like me, you’ve recently logged into your Shopify admin and struggled to find your blog posts, you’re not alone!
Until recently, blog management was found under Online Store > Blog Posts, but now it has been moved to a new location under Content > Blog Posts. Within the last 5 days at some stage, this appears to have changed.
What makes this change particularly frustrating is that Shopify has not officially announced it as far as I can see, leaving many merchants and developers searching for answers. In this post, we’ll explore what changed, why it might have happened, and what this means for Shopify store owners.
What Changed?
Previously, if you wanted to create or edit a blog post, you would navigate to Online Store > Blog Posts within the Shopify admin. However, as of early March 2025, blog posts are now located under Content > Blog Posts.
This update means that instead of being tied directly to the Online Store section, blog posts are now grouped with other content elements, such as meta descriptions and pages.

Why Did Shopify Make This Change?
While Shopify has not officially stated the reasoning behind this move, I believe there are a few likely explanations:
- Content Centralisation: Could Shopify be working toward streamlining how content is managed by grouping blog posts with other editable content such as images?
- Future Updates to Content Features: This could be an early step toward improving Shopify’s blogging capabilities, potentially introducing more CMS-like features. This is purely speculation on my behalf.
- Encouraging Better Content Strategies: Separating blog posts from the Online Store menu, might be Shopify signalling that blogs should be viewed as part of a broader content marketing strategy rather than just a feature of the storefront. This would make sense in an attempt to educate smaller business owners about the importance of content marketing.
How to Find Your Blog Posts Now
If you’re trying to access your blog posts, here’s how to find them in the updated Shopify admin:
- Log in to your Shopify admin.
- In the left-hand menu, click Content.
- Select Blog Posts.
- From here, you can create, edit, and manage your blog content as usual.
For those managing multiple Shopify stores, updating your internal workflows and team documentation may be necessary to ensure a smooth transition.
What This Means for Merchants
This unannounced change may cause some confusion, but it also suggests that Shopify is investing in improving content management. Here’s what merchants should probably keep in mind:
- Update your internal workflows – Ensure that anyone who manages your blog knows about the new location.
- Monitor for additional content updates – Shopify may roll out further changes to how blogs and other content are managed.
- Use this as an opportunity to optimise your content strategy – If Shopify is shifting focus toward content, now is a great time to revisit your blog strategy and ensure it aligns with your ecommerce goals. Consider deleting or bringing old content up to date to give it more visibility in the SERPS.
