Your GA4 Toolkit: 8 Must-Have Resources for Success

Introduction to Google Universal Analytics & GA4

For anyone working in ecommerce and historically used Google Universal Analytics, the migration to GA4 was a big shock. Many people including myself procrastinated, avoiding using the new interface and learning its new features. Some instantly embraced the change but found a lot of missing features in many cases and it was apparent that this system was going to take some getting used to.

GA4 in 2024

Today in April 2024, GA4 has unbelievably been available for over 3 years, whilst the change wasn’t fully enforced until July 2023. Hopefully you were on the ball and turned tracking on at least a year before that date, even if you weren’t using GA4 so you could take advantage of the historic reporting. I know many businesses will have a black hole in their GA reporting because this wasn’t actioned. If this is you and you are not sure how to correctly track on your website, you can look into my Google Analytics Service.

Although the platform has added a few features along the way, GA4 doesn’t offer the instant user friendly reports that you’re used to. Many reports have to be built from scratch to suit your needs. This does offer a sense of self-control and being able to manage only what you want to see, rather than what might be classed as noise. However it can still feel quite alien to use the new interface after living with UA for so long.
